Another Top Five for South Carolina Youngster
The grandstands at Myrtle Beach Speedway this Saturday night will be full of Gus Dean #MASHONIT t-shirts when the young South Carolinian returns home to compete in the Dean Custom Air 250 CARS X-1R Pro Cup Series event.  From nearby Bluffton, South Carolina, Dean is prepared to battle at his home track for the first time in 2013 in front of many family and friends.  Free tickets for Saturday's event can be found at many local businesses in and around the Myrtle Beach area and can be printed now from CARSProCup.com.

Sometimes when one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong.  However, good race teams can rebound from problems and bad bugs to post solid finishes.  Gus Dean was in the middle of one of these situations when he lost clutch in practice at the CARS Pro Cup race at Orange County Speedway (NC).  The team came together and was able to get the No. 56 Dean Custom Heating and Air ride back out to qualify third and finish on the podium in the same spot.

"We only had five laps on the car before qualifying," said Dean.  "We had to pull the transmission to change the clutch and to almost get a pole by two-hundredths of a second and to finish third was great day out of what could have been a bad one."

Dean hung around the whole race looking to make a late race change only to finish where he started.   The finish was the sixth in the top four this season for the South Carolina native.

"We used it up just a little too much to be there at the end," said Dean. "It was still a good night and now we'll take some time off from the Pro Cup car and we'll run the Super Late Model at Gresham in two weeks."

Dean will return the Super Late Model for the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park (GA) on August 9th.  Dean will look to run the race for the second time in his career after he made his first start in 2011.
